Vyšehrad is an ancient fortress located on a hill over the Vltava River. Old legends about the Princess Libuše say, that she foretold golden age and world’s fame of the city of Prague.
Today Vyšehrad is a very beautiful green site. Most of its territory is covered with green gardens. From the viewing points you can enjoy astonishing views of Vltava River.
The most notable architectural structure in Vyšehrad is the Gothic Church of ST. Peter and St Paul. Within the Church you can see the Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from Czech history. In the middle of the park you can see numerous monuments including the statue of the Princess Libuše, an old statue of Wenceslas which had formerly been placed in Wenceslas Square and others.
Another interesting and mysterious object in Vysehrad area is a strange formation of three stone columns called the Devil´s Column.
After getting some rest under the shadows of Vyšehrad park trees we made our way toward the Petřín Hill.
